Pregnancy Reflexology can offer much needed time out for mums to be and provide them with a calm space to relax and switch off. With additional training and over 10 years experience of working with pregnant women, I adapt treatments individually for each client depending on their stage of pregnancy.
Pregnancy Reflexology may:
Relieve tired and aching feet (particularly with the extra weight of the baby you are carrying)
Help relax your body and calm your mind
Aid sleep quality, particularly in the later stages of pregnancy when you might be feeling tired or anxious about the birth or having difficulty finding a comfortable sleeping position
Help provide a sense of well being
A research study carried out by Dr Gowri Motha, Ms Zia Rowji and Dr Jane McGrath at Forest Gate Hospital in the early 90s showed that regular reflexology during pregnancy helped with minor pregnancy ailments and the effects of reflexology on labour outcomes were outstanding. Pregnancy Reflexology Training
As part of my continued professional development, I have taken a number of additional post graduate courses in Pre-Conception, Pregnancy & Post-Natal Reflexology.
I have successfully passed Expectancy‘s Diploma in Maternity Complementary Therapies, training under the direct guidance of Denise Tiran, a practising midwife, university lecturer, complementary practitioner, respected author and an internationally-renowned authority of maternity complementary medicine. This course required me to complete formal training, assessments and assignments in this specialist area.
In addition, I have a Diploma in Pre-Conception, Pregnancy and Post-Natal Reflexology from the London School of Reflexology and have also trained with former midwife, Susanne Enzer and have achieved her Certificate of Competency in Maternity Reflexology.
I am a full member of the Association of Reflexologists, the UK’s professional body for reflexology, the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council, the UK regulator for complementary healthcare and I am an affiliate member of Expectancy giving me valuable one to one advise with an experienced midwife if needed.
